JESUS IS ALIVE! (5)

The Early Church • Acts 2:42-47

This week’s Bible story is about how more people believed that Jesus is alive, and they became the first church. A church is not about a building but it’s about the people. When these people gathered to worship and pray, they became the church. They loved each other by having meals together. They learned about Jesus and prayed together. They also shared everything they had with each other. When a person needed a coat, someone would share a coat with this person. They all loved like Jesus because He is alive!

Questions

1. What is a church?

“The Christians who gather to worship, pray and learn about Jesus is the church.”

2. What did the first church do to love like Jesus?

“They ate together, prayed together and helped whoever is in need.”

3. How can you help someone who is in need now?

When we go to church on Sunday, we’re not just going to a building but we’re joining many other Christians to worship, pray and listen to God’s word. This is what a church is about. Jesus wants us to love one another in a church. When someone is thirsty, we can give him or her a cup of water. When someone falls down, we can help him or her up. When someone is alone, we can play with him or her. We can love like Jesus because He is alive.
