Jesus wants to be my friend forever. (3)

Memory Verse“I have called you friends.” John 15:15

Jesus is a good friend.

Washing Feet • John 13:3-17

The 12 disciples were having dinner with Jesus. But their feet were dirty because they walked on dirt roads. So Jesus wanted to wash their dirty feet. Why? Because Jesus was their friend. But Peter refused. He said that Jesus was too special to wash their feet. However, Jesus said if they wanted to follow Him, they must let Him wash their feet. Jesus did this to teach them that they were to help others too and be their friends.

Questions

1. What did Jesus do to His 12 disciples?

“Jesus washed His disciples’ dirty feet.”

2. Why did Jesus want to wash their dirty feet?

“Jesus wanted to teach them to help others and be their friends too.”

3. How can you be a friend and help others also?

Jesus washes the disciples’ feet to teach us that if we want to follow Him, we should be a good friend and help others. This is how we show God’s love. We can share our toys so that everyone can play. We can write a card to encourage someone who is sad. We can help our parents to clean up our rooms. We do these things because we want others to know Jesus wants to be their friends too.
