God can help me be brave (1)

Memory Verse“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid for the Lord your God goes with you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

Rahab and the Spies • Joshua 2:1-24, 6:24-25

The enemies of God’s people once lived in a city of Jericho. Joshua, who led God’s people, sent 2 spies into Jericho. In this city, there was a woman named Rahab. She heard about the great God that the Israelites worshipped. She helped the two spies who went into the city. She was courageous because she heard about the great God who is very powerful. She hid the spies in her house because the soldiers were looking for them and later helped them escape. The spies told Rahab to put a red rope on her window so that when God’s people come to attack, they will keep Rahab and her family save. Rahad could help the Israelites because God helped her to be brave.

Sometimes we are afraid or ashamed of doing certain things that God wants us to do. You may be afraid of bringing fruits to the old woman next door because you don’t know if she would be happy. Or that you may be ashamed that you told a lie and afraid to confess the truth. God can help you to be brave because He cares for you. You can tell God how you are afraid. He knows how you feel and He will be able to help you to be to do the right things.
