God knows what’s best for me (1)

In the Garden • Genesis 1:31, 2:8–3:24

The very first two people that God made were Adam and Eve. God told them to take care of a big Garden of Eden with many trees with different kinds of fruits. God told them that they could eat the fruits from any of the trees except one. But one day, an evil creature told Eve that she could eat the fruit of that tree. Eve had a choice and chose to eat. She also gave it to Adam who ate the fruit too. They disobeyed God and had to leave the garden. They made a wrong choice. But God still loved them and took care of them even though they should have listened to Him because God knows what’s best for them.

Questions

1. What did God tell Adam and Eve about eating the fruits?

“God said that they can eat all the fruits except one.”

2. What choice did Adam and Eve make?

“They chose to disobeyed God by eating the fruit that God said they shouldn’t eat.

3. What are some things that God says that you should not do?

Adam and Eve have choices to make. They can choose to obey God or do what they want. It makes God sad when they choose to do what they want. We have choices to make too. Should we tell the truth or lie to get what we want? Should we listen to our parents or disobey them? We should do what God tells us to do because He knows what is best for us. But even though we make wrong choices, God will still love us. He will help us learn how to make the right choices again.
