God made everything (1)

Light and Dark; Sky Above Water • Genesis 1:3-8

There was no light. There were no houses or people or trees or even dirt for plants to grow in. It was empty. There was nothing. But God was there.

On day 1, when God began creating the world, God said, ‘Let there be light.’ And there was light! The WHOLE world was filled with beautiful, dazzling, shimmery light! Then, God separated the light from the dark. God called the light “day” and dark “night.” That’s why we have daytime and nighttime!

On day 2, God made a place for the deep, cool water below and created the wide, blue sky above the whole world! God looked at all of that were created on day 1 and 2, and saw that they were good.

Questions

1. What did God make on day 1?

“God made the light and called it ‘day’, and dark which is ‘night’.”

2. What did God make on day 2?

“God make the cool blue water below and blue sky above.”

3. Name all the fun things you can do during the daytime.

Do you notice the sky darkens when your family members get home from work? Dinner together with the family is one of my favorite things to do. And when it really, really gets dark, it’s bedtime! God created light and dark which also help us to plan our activities. The nighttime helps us to rest so that we can study or work hard in the morning.

What did God create on day 2? He made the lakes and great big oceans below where the fish and whales swim in them, and the vast blue sky above where birds can fly around. We can see beautiful fluffy clouds in the sky too.
