Jesus came to give the world joy.

Shepherds and Angels • Luke 2:8-20

Long ago in a field, there were shepherds taking care of sheep at a night full of stars. Suddenly, an angel appeared in the sky and the shepherds were surprised. The angel said that he brought good news that would bring joy to all people – this news was Jesus, God’s Son has been born, and He came to be everyone’s friend forever. When the shepherds heard of it, they ran to look for baby Jesus. They had so much joy that they wanted to tell everyone about it.

Questions

1. What did the angel tell the shepherds?

“The angel said that Jesus, God’s Son was born.”

2. Why were the shepherds filled with joy?

“They heard that Jesus came to be their friend forever.”

3. Do you want Jesus to be your very best friend forever?

We can have friends in school or in church to play with. But the best of all friends is Jesus because He loves us very much and will not leave us. This is why we can have so much joy because Jesus is a friend who will take care of us. This is the good news that we can share with our friends who do not know him, that Jesus can be their friend forever too.
